Teacher appreciation cake or "Children's Book Cake"

The edible ink says:
"How do you thank the one who taught your child to read?"

Olivia is front and center. Behind her are Frog and Toad to the right.  On the other side is my Kindergartener's teacher, Ms. Winn, as a book worm.

On the sides we have Bill Peet's Wingdingdilly, Curious George, and The Magic School Bus.
Here's a close-up of them drying.

It was hard to choose only five characters to model.  So thankful for all the great teachers in the world!

Thanks to Marj for the design inspiration for Olivia and George and to micahs for the frog and toad design.

Little Einsteins Cake

The picture in the middle is of my son, and the figures are printed out, which I normally wouldn't do, but I opted to spend the extra time with my son on his birthday :).

Play dough and eat it, too!

Five little friends of mine were having a joint birthday party, so I made a 4 layer green tinted cake covered in buttercream icing in blue (all boys).  Then I made fondant in a few different colors and the kids got to roll it and cut it and decorate the cake.  This is the second time I've gone that route, and the kids love it.  It was a lot of fun, and they can eat their playdough!
